Your Faith Helps Others
(1)”A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. (2)So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. (3)Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. (4)Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. (5)When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Mark 2:1-5
This is an amazing story of four, perhaps five people of faith. Four men had a friend who was a paralytic. They found out where Jesus was and rushed their buddy to Him. When they came to the house where Jesus was they could not get in so they climbed on top of the house and dug a hole in the roof to let the man down with ropes to get him to Jesus for healing.
What happened next is amazing. When Jesus saw the faith of the four friends, He healed the man. At first He said to the man, “Your sins are forgiven.” Because of this statement, those who heard Him became very disgruntled and charged Him with blasphemy. Their point was that only God could forgive sins. Jesus simply asked a question. “Which is easier? Is it easier to forgive sins or heal a man who cannot walk?” Both of them require the working of God, and in this moment, Jesus proved Himself to be God.
This is an amazing piece of text, but it shows us that our faith can help others. We are not in this thing alone. Could it be today that someone who is around you could benefit from your faith? It worked in Capernaum. Could it work where you live or work?
Faith is a powerful force and when shared, it can change other people’s lives. Give it some thought.
