You Really Do Care
I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. Philippians 4:10
Have you ever wondered if anyone really cared about you? Honestly, now. Sometimes we have ourselves a huge pity party thinking that nobody cares.
Paul, the Apostle, recognized the love the people in the Philippian church had for him and did not waste a minute letting them know about it. All through his writing to these beloved people, he also expressed his love for them. It has been said that the Philippian church was Paul’s sweetheart church. There was love flowing both ways.
I am a fortunate individual. I know that there are people who, if necessary, would die for me. And I know that there are people for whom I would do the same. God has blessed me with being surrounded by people who love me and people whom I love dearly.
When we get to wondering if anyone really cares and asking that question, we are actually asking the wrong question. The real question is “Do I Really Care?” It is possible to love people who do not love you. It happens all the time. It is even possible to love them long enough until they begin to love you.
Love is a powerful force. It can change people. Sometimes it takes a day and sometimes it takes many years. But, somewhere along the line, love will win.
If you want people to really care about you, it would be good for you to take the first step and really care about them. We cannot claim to love God without loving others. Our love for one another is just practice for loving our Creator!
So, if you are asking if someone really cares for you, ask yourself if it is possible that the other person may be asking the same thing about you.
Love works. Give it a try.
